Folding Technology: CNC-Scored Cardboard, Manuell Folding
Material: Cardboard, Paper
University: ETH Zürich
Departure: Architecture
City: Zürich
Kristina Wißling was invited to give a lecture on origami mechanisms and structures, followed by a workshop on the topic of „folding“ at the architecture department of the ETH Zurich. After the lecture, in which the students of architecture were given a rough overview of the theoretical basics, folding techniques, structures and possible applications, the students had the knowledge to work with different folding techniques.
In the workshop- called „Faltung“ with 20 students, 20 structures were made using different folding techniques and scales. The concept gave a good overview about the possibilities of folding techniques, and showed a wide range of structures such as tessellations, 3D Origami, curved folding, spiral folds, modular systems and saddle surfaces and their modifications.
