Studio Kristina Wißling was asked to design a set of paper art furniture for Grundig "Smart Homes", to be showcased at the world's largest Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances IFA in Berlin. The result was a set designed of handfolded furniture made from brightly coloured papers from the French Paper Manufacturer, Arjowiggins. The furnitures like armchairs, vases, tables, origami clocks and floor lamps were entirely made from paper, assembled by hand and installed in a living room like scene in a smart home.
Some pieces were based on an iconic item of furniture with folded structures and were approximately the same size as the original. Others, like the "folded clock", a side table, and a specially designed paper lampshade, were created for the set design on a scale of 1: 1 and folded by hand.
The Paper Art Furniture was commissioned by Vite! Concepts GmbH and Grundig "Smart Homes. The work was showcased at the world's largest fair for consumer electronics and home appliances IFA in Berlin. More examples of Paper Art Design projects can be found here.
