Studio Kristina Wißling was asked to create a series of origami for a book project. The book "Folding Tables" gives insights into 13 extraordinary restaurants and gastronomic concepts spread all over Europe. From the traditional rustic house (restaurant) in the spa town of Bad Homburg, to the Insider Teahouse in Munich, to a fish stand in The Hague, to a cafe in a former car garage in Zurich. Other restaurants and menus in metropolises such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt were artfully presented in combination with the traditional art of origami.
Materials from exclusively selected restaurants were sent to us from different cities. Napkins, menus, tablecloths, business cards bow according to the principle of folding. A project where flyers were folded into origami butterflies, Cloth aprons merged into hearts, tea filters turned into cranes and menu cards transformed into blossoms to be lovingly photographed on location with delicious food.
The limited edition book was exclusively distributed as a gift to every reader. PfefferminzGreen asked the readers to donate an amount that seemed appropriate to them. 100% of the proceeds of the book went directly into PeppermintGreen NIGAT projects in Ethiopia and was partly used for the construction of a secondary school in Sierra Leone.
Folding Tables – An origami lovers` guide to unique dining is an extraordinary project. Alongside other artists such as Joy Denalane with Liebeskind and Cassandra Steen who also supported the projects in Africa with their involvement.
Initiator of the book project "Folding Tables" was PfefferminzGreen e.V. in Frankfurt, Project Management Fanina Karabelnik, Set Design & Photography Helen & Peter Unsinn, Art Direction Matthias Scherer, Text Tina Kavanagh, Paper Art Kristina Wißling
